Server Maintenance (September 2014)

Hello,

 

It is come to the attention of the Department of Information Technology that there have recently been some minor issues with our mainframe server, causing intermittent incidents of delayed response times. With a vast number of various crucial and demanding services, up-to-date software and systems are key to stability, security and efficiency. This is a formal announcement that the Department of Information Technology has begun the process of data backups and data archiving, in preparation for a brand-new system installation.

 

The data backup and archive process will be followed by individual service updates, followed a final backup of services. After which, we will begin the process of moving our data elsewhere while the system is taken offline and prepared for reinstallation. Please note that reinstallation will be preceded by a complete formatting of the system harddrive. While we will backup all necessary data, please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you have a safe local copy of your own data, if applicable.

 

During this process, we ask that everyone be cooperative, patient and understanding of any service downtime or unavailability as we work hard to ensure data updates, backups and integrity. The estimated date to finish the entire process is roughly by the end of September 13, 2014.

A significant and intolerable amount of issues have risen since the initial announcement. We are speeding up the process to hopefully get everything resolved sooner. Please note that while we undergo the process of backup, there may be more issues with services (such as lag, delayed responses, etc). We appreciate your cooperation.[/center:2l7isfdx]
