March 2014 Mainframe Server Migration

Hello all,

There will be a mass server migration soon, involving a move to better-end hardware to support additional back-end technologies. The server location will remain the same (Dallas, Texas); New Jersey and Chicago locations are options, however they are currently out-of-stock and won't be available for at least several weeks. Thus in the interest of time, we'll stick to Dallas which does have stock.

As usual, no action will be necessary on your part is necessary. All data will be manually migrated over, so there will not be any loss of data. There is no ETA on when the process will begin, however, during the final migration process, our website and server (including the TeamSpeak server) will be temporarily unavailable. The final process should take no more than an hour, however, due to DNS propagation, you may not be able to "see" our new server for 24-48 hours. This just happens to be the mother nature of DNS, so there's nothing we can do about that.

As a quick note, this post will be updated with the new server's IP Address when it becomes available. This way, TeamSpeak users can connect directly to the new server's IP Address and thus bypass the DNS propagation issues. DNS propagation only applies to domain names and other DNS settings - since an IP is a direct address, no propagation is needed and thus, can be always used. After the 24-48 hour propagation period, our TeamSpeak server alias (teamofweaponsandtactics.com) should work as usual and you will be connected to the new server.

FINAL NOTES

> The new TeamSpeak IP Address will be posted below immediately once we get the server. However, DO NOT CONNECT TO IT until the old TeamSpeak 3 server actually goes down! The reason is, only one TeamSpeak 3 server instance can be running at a time, for each license. The new IP is provided immediately, so that you may write it down (or save it somewhere), so that you can connect to the server once it goes down. Do be sure to save the IP somewhere soon (once it's posted), since once our website is down, you won't see it.

> Once the final migration process has started, our website will be unavailable for a MAXIMUM of 48 hours. So, if our website still appears to be offline or unavailable, it is not! To "fix" this, you will need to clear your web browser's cache (for specific instructions on how to do this, please refer to your web browser's support documentation).

ts3.teamofweaponsandtactics.com

This will be the address used to access the server once all data has been migrated. We will be starting fresh, with new channels, groups, and permissions. So if you connect and get a warning from TeamSpeak saying that someone might be playing "man in the middle", it is safe to ignore it.[/center:32n1isf8]

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to post here.

Haha, well that's great then. Since we'll be staying there. default_tongue.png

I was hoping to get Chicago or New Jersey simply because it's closer to me (NY). But in the interest of time, I've chosen to stick with Dallas.

Re: March 2014 Mainframe Server Migration

New Address has been updated in the first post.

For reference, it is: ts3.teamofweaponsandtactics.com

This will be the address used to access the server once all data has been migrated. We will be starting fresh, with new channels, groups, and permissions. So if you connect and get a warning from TeamSpeak saying that someone might be playing "man in the middle", it is safe to ignore it.
