Clarification on Policies on Battlefield Servers

Greetings Battlefielders,

During gameplay yesterday evening (on server #18742), I was in the middle of configuring a script that was supposed to appropriately handle players who use racist and/or derogatory remarks in-game. The script had some errors in it and cause a player or two to be banned while initiating a ban vote -- and for that I apologize.

The script has been correctly configured and will warn all individuals who engage in such comments twice. Players who continue to engage in comments will be banned indefinitely. The process is automated, so it's not recommended you try it. We will NOT lift bans except under extremely seldom circumstances, so if you're banned, you're banned for good.

As a note, general cursing is allowed (eg.: fuck, shit, damn, etc) however racist and/or derogatory terms are not. Act responsibly.

Another thing to keep in mind is a seldom issue with PunkBuster Screenshots. We reserve the right to initiate a PunkBuster screenshot on any player, for any reason, at any given time. Should a screenshot repeatedly fail from you (either a black or failed-to-generate screenshot), we reserve the right to kick and ban you, in the respective circumstances. It is your responsibility to ensure that all video drivers on your locale machine are up-to-date. Out-of-date video drivers may result in blank or failed screenshots and additionally, special tools used to modify or hack the game (thereby introducing unfair circumstances - which constitutes "cheating, hacking, or glitching") also tend to block screenshots. As such, we must assume the worst to be fair to all players. If you're game is minimized at the initiation time of the screenshot, it will return black however a special code in the screenshot will indicate that your game was minimized (we will not hold this against you if this becomes a case).

Do note that we will usually attempt to initiate screenshots multiple times, just to be sure. So if all screenshots we initiate fail, there's a good chance that you may get kicked. Believe me, we hate kicking people without proper evidence that they're hacking, but we do have to be fair with everyone. And if there's someone suspicious or questionable and their screenshots are failing to take, we may be inclined to take action depending on the situation at hand.

Above all, play fair and have fun. Stick to those two things and generally you'll be just fine.
