New Email Authentication System

Greetings everyone,

I'm proud to announce that we have a new secure email authentication system built into our Community Forums. As of today, everyone can properly send emails through our Community Forums directly from our board. When you click the email link in someone's profile, you'll be directed to a built-in editor that will allow you to directly type in your message (and subject) to the recipient. As our emailing system has been improved to now use secure authentication and official servers, the emails should no longer be sent to people's "spam" or "bulk" mailboxes and instead, sent directly to their inbox as it should.

Some notes to be mindful of:

> Spam is not taken lightly here. Do not abuse the feature to send people unsolicited messages or emails. Doing so will result in your ability to email people getting removed.

> For the sake of everyone's privacy, all email addresses are hidden. Though people can still email you via the feature on our board, they won't ever see your email address.

> If you do not wish for others to be able to email you, you can disallow (or allow) for this option in your User Control Panel.

> Note that the built-in editor is for writing emails and as such, does not support any BBCodes, HTML markups, or other special markings.

Above all, we do encourage people to utilize the private messaging system here on our forums -- before using the emailing system. Private messages are easier to contain and you can adjust the format of your text using BBCodes and the like. Moreover, emails are usually only used for emergency or personal conversations; many users aren't comfortable with others emailing them, particularly if they don't know you. Also, do note that when you email someone using the feature on our forums, your personal email address (tied to your forum account) will be used as the "from" address and the "reply-to" address, and is thus not hidden from the recipient.

Lastly, there are some short instructions that you can follow if you receive spam from the forum emailing system. Contained in the instructions is an email address you can write to, letting them know that you're getting spam or unsolicited emails.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Happy holidays to everyone!
