November 2013 Migration

Hello everyone,

I've gotten an official word that our server provider is moving their clients to a new location that provides more modern hardware and performance. The moving process has started asks will finish sometime this month, as they have a lot of clients to move.

In addition to this move, our server will be upgraded to hold a 300GB HDD with advanced Solid State Drive (SSD) technology, in addition to 8 GB of dedicated RAM, all backed up and powered by the latest technology from Haswell processors.

The new server will encompass some new things, in addition to a new IP address, which you as end-users won't have to worry about. Unfortunately due to the vast differences in technology, automatic migration isn't possible at this day and age and thus everything will have to be manually migrated.

All our data (users, threads, posts, etc) will be retained, so there will be no further action required by anyone else.

Please note that this will not involve any migration to our planned future bulletin board software, vBulletin. This is a separate incident and is not related to the future migration.

The process will hopefully be done either this week, or next week at the latest. During the process, our forums will be closed (taken coffline) while all data is migrated to the new platform. Our forums will be live on the new platform within 24 hours after going offline.

As a warning, DNS propagation (which points our website address to the new server) can take 24-48 hours to complete. So if you still see our forums closed for more than 2 or 3 days, you'll need to clear your browser's cache.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, we look forward to meeting again on our new and improved platform!
