Quick Start Guide to Playing Battlefield 2142 with NTWT Servers

Members who wish to play a more "stock" version of Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike, or Battlefield 2142: Deluxe Edition can do so by playing with a modified binary/executable file that has been modified to connect to our own hosted game servers and master servers. To do so, all you will need is an installation of Battlefield 2142, either via the original DVD or from Origin.

Please note, there are multiple versions of the game. The New Team of Weapons and Tactics only officially supports the latest, version 1.51.

Battlefield 2142 is a licensed product, therefore you must own a legitimate copy of the game to connect to our servers.
We do NOT provide keys for the game as we are not a reseller of the game, and game piracy is illegal and will NOT be tolerated.

 

To Get Started:

1. Install a copy of Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike, or Battlefield 2142: Deluxe Edition on to your computer.
   • Note: You must be an administrator to install the game to your computer.
2. Navigate to your installation directory.
   • Typical installation directories are as follows:
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2142
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition
3. Download and install the Update 1.50 for Battlefield 2142 from our Downloads Center.
   • Note: You must install this update first; do not skip this step.
4. Download and install the Update 1.51 for Battlefield 2142 from our Downloads Center.
   • Note: You must install this only after you have installed Update 1.50 in the previous step; do not skip step 3.
5. Locate the file named bf2142.exe and rename it to bf2142.exe.old (or something else, if you wish). This will allow you to keep your original game executable in case you want it for any reason.
6. Download the NTWT Battlefield 2142 Custom Binary from our Downloads Center.
7. Copy the downloaded custom binary (bf2142.exe) into your installation directory.
   • Remember, typical installation directories are as follows:
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2142
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition
8. Run the game, either by double-clicking the bf2142.exe or by using any of the program shortcuts on your Desktop or All Programs folder.
9. Once prompted by the logon/sign-on screen in-game, you can select Create Account if you do not already have one, or simply login with your existing account credentials.
   • Please note a few things about this method of playing the game:
     • Your actual EA account that used to be used to login to the game does not exist on our servers unless you (or someone else) explicitly creates it.
     • You can choose any account name as long as it has not already been chosen.
     • Passwords by this system are stored internally in plain-text. This means that in case of a security breach in our servers by a hacker, the password can be immediately known by the hacker. This is a limitation due to the design of the emulation system. As such, we recommend using a unique password that you do not use for any other service.
10. Once you select or create a soldier, you should see our official servers in the Multiplayer section of the game. Feel free to join any of the servers in the list based on your preference.
