Service Database 2014 & Administrative Control Center

Introduction

With the development of the Service Database 2014 underway, I've been faced with a variety of questions from members via PMs and emails, as well as questions from my own mind. The Service Database was originally designed for the Grand Theft Auto series, for police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and transport authority personnel to track, manage, and keep a database of events that are department-specific. Here when we say department, we're referring to departments in the GTA series (police department, fire department, etc).

What's New

Service Database 2014 will feature an all-new layout to ease the use, efficiency, and management for each user, administrator, and staff member, respectively. Logging into the Service Database will direct you to the Dashboard, where you can quickly access anything you need with a single click. Each department in the Grand Theft Auto series will feature the all-new Desktop, which will allow users to easily see a list of all their available database, tools, and other useful items that pertain directly to the department itself.

In addition to all the standard feature, the all-new permissions system allows users access only to the departments which they're signed up for. Federal Investigation Bureau agents are now the only individuals who can access global police records; Police Officers and Agents must now request permission to view patient medical records for privacy reasons; and much more.

Major Changes & Merge with Administrative Control Center

Since the Service Database is such a massive project, we will be including all officially-support games into the Service Database, which (as of now), will include GTA IV, GTA V, BF3, and BF4. Since BF is obviously a different game in comparison to the GTA series, the BF sections of the database will allow members basic tools to track members and view and schedule events, such as organization practice sessions, tournaments, and more.

The Administrative Control Center will also be merged into the Service Database and will now longer be a separate service. Instead, administrators and staff will be able to access special areas of the BF and GTA series that will allow them to manage members and perform other administrative tasks, directly from the appropriate Desktop.

Improvements & Optimizations

We've received a number of requests for a mobile application to monitor server status, manage members, and more. The new Service Database will come in two (2) flavors: Service Database 2014 and Service Database 2014: Optimized. Both versions of the Service Database will come pre-packed with a mobile edition, to best fit mobile devices of all types. Why spend extra time developing separate applications for Android and iOS devices when one will fit all kinds? Service Database 2014: Optimized will include all of the same features as the standard Service Database 2014, but will have less cosmetic and visual enhancements to optimize connection speed and bandwidth usages. This allows suitable performance on all devices and if you don't have to worry about bandwidth or connection speed, the regular version will do just fine.

Service Database 2014 will be accessible through any web browser and will, when released, offer the choice of both flavors of the database each time you visit it so that you can choose your preferred method based on your device's current abilities.

FAQ

When is the Service Database scheduled for release?

The Service Database is currently well under development but unfortunately due to its massiveness, there is no current release date for Service Database 2014.

Will there be a Beta?

Yes, there will be a Beta open to select staff members of the organization. This will be focused on testing all areas of the Service Database to examine basic functionality and other various issues that may arise. No release date is currently available for the Beta.

Beta only for staff?

Currently the Beta is open only to select staff members. However, depending on the end product and how many staff members are chosen, we may randomly select members to also participate in Beta testing phase.

Screenshots?

We'd love to, but the Service Database is subject to change and we don't want to cause any potential confusion between now and the official release. Furthermore, we'll be better spending the time to develop the service rather than take screenshots in the meantime for something that could potentially change. Beta testing users can freely take screenshots and release them during the official Beta, but until then, there will be no additional screenshots.
