For those of you interested in BF4 info:

Here are some links to some videos that discuss a lot of the hot topics of Battlefield 4.

For those of you without the time to watch both of those, here are the highlights:

Yes, the recon player is the only class with C4.

The support class gets an XM25 though.

In case you don't know what that is: it's a clip-fed automatic grenade launcher.

Oh, and commanders can call in tomahawk missiles wherever they want, and you won't receive any warning.

If you're in a tank, you'll be relying on your commander to resupply you with ammo, which totally makes sense, seeing as how regular soldiers have enough issues getting ammo from support players.

Douchebags playing on tablets can control the flow of the entire battle, making all of your effort pointless.

C4 slides around.

You can counter knives from the front. Which is totally a great idea, instead of just getting rid of the ability to perform a knife-grab from the front. Y'know, because knife-swiping used to be a thing.

You can knife people in the water. This totally won't lead to jackasses hiding in the water and waiting for an easy kill.

Did I mention that your team winning is probably going to be decided by some random person on a tablet?

Did I mention that no amount of caution will save you from the commander's pinpoint accurate missiles?

Well, I guess you can avoid them by never going near any of the objectives. 'Cause there totally wasn't already a lack of team players, and giving someone the ability to bombard objectives totally won't discourage people from trying to take objectives. It definitely won't make hardcore objectives a complete nightmare either.

This definitely wasn't already a problem with pre-patch mortars in BF3... Or the mortars in BFBC2...

Oh well... At least this hasn't helped cement my decision to not buy BF4.

People seem to have mixed feelings about Commander mode.

If it was like it used to be in BF2142, there are two main things commanders can use to take down vehicles. EMP Strike and Orbital Strike (tomahawk missile). Basically once initiated, the Orbital Strike would strike a series of bombs from the sky, for a straight 15 seconds. EMP Strikes would strike to EMP charges to the group, one right after another; these would temporarily disabled any electrical equipment and vehicles. It would also distort your vision for 5-10 seconds whether or not you were in a vehicle. Commanders with experience could launch the Orbital Strike (which took about 2-3 seconds to initiate) and quickly also launch the EMP strike immediately after (also took 2-3 seconds to initiate) to destroy vehicles. The Orbital Strike would of course startle the vehicle operator, usually causing them to try and move, which was then prevented after the EMP charges hit the vehicle (getting hit by an EMP charge disabled electric equipment and vehicles for 2-4 seconds). Support soldiers also had access to a EMP Grenade that provided the same EMP charge, in grenade form. They would often spam those bitches at vehicles like tanks and shit when they got trapped. The tanks could still shoot, but the turret wouldn't turn. Soldiers would literally toss those things one after another (with unlimited ammo boxes) and a dumbass tank operator would sit their for three minutes before getting out to try and kill the support guy. Fun times. :D

As for Commander mode in general, trust me. It won't be overpowered, assuming they do it right like they did in the classic Battlefield games. If it makes you feel any better, the "commander toys" as they're called are located in the enemy deployment and can be destroyed via use of C4 or TV missiles. Destroying the toys or "assets" would disable them from being used by an enemy commander until repaired by an engineer. If they do this, it is likely that you will be able to access the enemy deployment, with no boundary limitations. Which, if this is the case, be careful. I know a lot of engineers were knifed when repairing those commander toys. As a note, the assets take a while to recharge after use. Orbital strikes took about 3-4 minutes to recharge; EMP charges took about 5-6 minutes to recharge; UAVs took about 2 minutes to recharge; SAT Tracks took about 45 seconds-1 minute to recharge. And if your teammates are dumbasses and don't follow the commander's orders, your team could lose if there's a well-experienced commander on the other team. I've got a lot of hours as a commander from BF2142, so I'll definitely be having fun with it. I'm interested in seeing the new (and old) features they'll have.
