Anti-Tank Mines AKA The Explosive Pancake

Recommended Posts

Today, I discovered something extraordinary. I mostly play assault, so that would probably explain why I haven't discovered this yet. My discovery: Anti-Tank Mines = Free Kills. It's amazing. You just put them on the ground, and dumbasses run over them again and again and again, even if you put them in the exact same place!

There was also a jackass trying to run me over, dipshit didn't realize I had put one down fifteen feet in front of me. Apparently he thought I was standing still and egging him on because I'm a moron. The correct conclusion is that I am a moron equipped with explosives, making me a bazillion times more effective against morons in vehicles.

wow. What server do you play on! I stopped using mines since they don't work anymore for me since people are smart enough to always spam Spot while in the tank, or they have thermo and can see them perfectly :P

It varies strongly on what maps and modes you're playing. Rush and CTF are where you'll get the easiest anti-tank mine kills. It also varies a lot on placement, certain areas will always get traffic, and sometimes drivers are too lazy to look for mines or destroy them if they know they're there. I got I think somewhere from six to eight kills from anti-tank mines within a couple of minutes on Operation Firestorm. At the beginning of the round, I place them in the obvious places, on the main road and in the middle-ground between both M-com stations. After getting a few kills with them I move them onto the outer areas since tanks will be trying to take the long way around and there is always someone in the jeep trying to sneak in through the cluster of buildings.

In the end, I guess it really comes down to luck. The luck part is mainly because you need to hope you don't get drivers who spam their spot button. The second important part is rotation of your mine placement, at least in Rush.

When it comes to CTF, main roads and the area around the flag will almost always give you kills, mainly from motorcycle drivers who are rushing towards the flag without thinking, or from cocky drivers who are certain they'll be able to get through. Another fun tactic is to sneak over to the enemy base, don't grab the flag, but place down mines around their base so when they leave or try to bring your flag in, they get killed. It will usually only work once or twice, but if you're good with rotation and staying out of sight, you can rake in a hefty amount of kills.

Like I said previously, maps are also important. Operation Firestorm is usually where I see people getting very reckless. Other maps I've seen that people aren't too careful on include Seine Crossing, Sharqi Peninsula, Tehran Highway, and Alborz Mountain. Players can get reckless on any maps where vehicles are available, but I've mainly noticed people getting reckless on these maps in particular.

Interesting.

I'll have to try some of these things. They are fun, especially sneaking up on people and whatnot. I'll admit, I've run over plenty of mines simply because I didn't see them. Hate to say it, but I usually don't run around with thermal vision. Not that I should have told anyone that....but yeah.

Not sure if it works anymore, but I know a lot of people who play as a group/friends who stick together would usually put 2-3 mines down in a busy place, then a Support or Medic class wold toss Ammo//Medpack on the mine so the tanks can't see it.

None of my friends play this game anymore so I haven't tested it out to see if it still works. It was effective back then but im not sure if people caught on with it
