IRONMENCH - Using Network Interruption Device

Today on Operation Metro, I was playing with element777x and a full server of people. About half-way through the match, my gun was lagging as I reloaded it and switched to my pistol. It didn't catch the switch due to a network interruption and went back to my primary, where I had to switch back to the pistol. Then, upon attempting to run up the stairs, I couldn't. My soldier was frozen and others were saying the same. Others in my squad said the orange connection problem icon was appearing in the corner of their screen and it was showing on mine as well. Despite no one was moving, everyone's voice was crystal clear over VOIP without any interruptions or signal relays. I heard automatic gunfire further down the metro building and saw in the kill feed that a two people were still killing others, but primarily one player. I waited until he killed 3 more people just to ensure that he must have been moving and decided to kick him to see if the network restored. Low and behold, after kicking the player, all lag was gone and the server was back to normal.

One of the players on our team said he was always on our server (even had it in his favorites) and never experienced lag until now. Given that the player who was kicked was also moving, it lead others as well as I to believe he was utilizing some form of network interruption device --- possibly a lag switch. If the player himself actually had a poor connection, he wouldn't have been moving and his soldier would've been locked in place (happened to me before), so the fact that he was moving and of course killing others was an obvious enough sign to me that he was cheating.

From what I remember, his PSN ID was in all capital letters and looking at the battle report, the only person with an all-caps (and of course reminds me of the guy's name) is IRONMENCH (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/ironmench/). If someone could add him to the ban list on both servers, that'd be great -- added. I initially only kicked him to see if he was the one causing the lag and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get on the console again anytime soon. So many things to do these days.

For now, I propose the ban be permanent unless he stops by to appeal it. People on our server were lucky that there were admins there. Had admins not been online (or more importantly, in our server), he could have ruined the whole game for everyone and ruined the reputation of our server.

For reference, the following people may be of interest:

elementx777 - One of the admins there who experienced it.

WIDEOPEN420 - The player who is actively on our server (said that our server is in his favorites) who also experienced the lag.

There is a slight possibility it wasn't him and was someone else instead. I'd need further confirmation on that.

Notes:

  • The battlereport shows he got 0 kills and deaths, along with 0 points awarded, though he was disconnected from the server before the round ended. Do players who are kicked get their stats tracked? Or are they automatically voided if kicked by an admin?
  • It is worth noting that his stats aren't too high, giving a legitimate reason for him to want or attempt to cheat.
  • The battle report in question is here: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/soldier/IRONMENCH/stats/272024353/ps3/
  • Sapper joined in shortly after the incident occurred and was thus not present to witness the incident.
