Ferrara! Your Weapons?

Recommended Posts

So, Terrence...now that I have your attention...

What weapons do you use in real life? Any recommendations? I tried the M9 today and it was alright. Sounds more powerful than the Glock series but I'm not sure....they use the same ammunition. Any specific weapons you use as an officer that you prefer to use over something else? Just curious. I'm thinking about expanding my horizons with pistols and weapons in general in BF3. Just thought I'd ask your opinion. Obviously the game is different than real-life since the weapons are "balanced" and all that horse shit. But I'd like your thoughts.

And to Sapper and Zonar (or anyone whose used the M1911 S-TAC), does the M1911 S-TAC do more or less damage than the M1911 itself? Or the same damage? I remember seeing a video a while ago that said the exclusive DICE weapons didn't seem to have any less damage with or without suppressors. For instance, the silenced .44 Magnum with laser sight does the same amount of damage as the regular .44 Magnum. Special, since we all know that suppressors weaken every other weapon due to a decrease in bullet velocity and cold-loaded rounds.

Same BS with the suppressed shotguns.

The standard government-issued firearm is the Glock 17. Some smaller police departments permit the use of alternate firearms such as a Beretta M9, S&W, and even Colts. A few (and I mean very few) allow some officers to use some old-school revolvers. But major police departments have standard codes to follow where all officers must use pre-determined government issued firearms.

When I worked as a SWAT officer, I used the Colt M4A1 which uses 5.56 x 45 NATO rounds and holds a 30 round magazine (not including the bullet in the chamber), equipped with a flashlight, a fore-grip, and a red-dot type sight. Every now and then, I was forced to take off the fore-grip and replace it with an M203 grenade launcher to fire CS gas in certain situations. The pistol I was issued was a Glock 17 with a flashlight attached to the end of the pistol. Usually for tactical situations like those, you're supposed to use the standard-issued firearms.

Working for the FBI for the past 4 years, I am allowed to choose my own weapon. I'm usually equipped with my Desert Eagle with 7 0.50AE rounds per magazine (not including the chamber). I still utilize my Colt M4A1 from time-to-time, but the pistol is faster for quick engagements. I don't walk around holding an M4A1 carbine rifle all day.

So if you're looking for weapons to use in Battlefield 3, I'd say consider those. If you have them, that is. As far as the M1911 is concerned, I've used that before, but I'll take my Desert Eagle over that any day. Yes, it's big for the average human but it's perfect for me. M1911 likewise with many other pistols (don't even get me started on the Glock 26) is a bit small for comfort. Yes, the Desert Eagle is also more expensive but I got one that was government paid and a few others that I bought with my own paychecks. They work well for me.

Well as for the game I say we hold an experment we shoot you with the normal 1911 and see how many rounds it takes to kill you, then we will do it with the S-tac. :D

A .50 cal Desert Eagle?!  :mercie_blink:

Remind me not to fuck with you. :P

Anyway, that gun isn't in BF3. I might consider using the M1911 TAC but I'm not a fan of the short magazine. It looks like it's the most powerful pistol in the game...just the damn magazine isn't big. Which isn't a big deal if you're an aim king or only dealing with one or two people at a time...

I'll have to give it some thought.

@Sapper: Well, let's do that soon :D

 I primarily use the M1911, but in all honesty it's not that great of a sidearm in BF3. The G17c is better, since it has a higher capacity, less ADS recoil, much better hip-fire accuracy, and I'm also pretty sure the reload is faster. The M1911 has a larger potential damage, the maximum output being at 34 damage, while the G17c has a maximum damage of 25. Their minimum damage is identical at 12.5. So if you're close, and you're accurate, you can drop someone with three shots from the M1911 (Excluding headshots), and four from the G17c (Excluding headshots), in standard settings. Playing in hardcore, the extra damage of the M1911 doesn't really add up to all of the advantages of the G17c, unless you're terribly accurate with the M1911 (Most people aren't.).

As for the other sidearms, the MP412 is a great choice for a sidearm, since it can drop someone in two hits on standard, and one hit from a headshot. The gun has insane hip-fire accuracy, so scoring those two quick hits or even a headshot shouldn't be a problem. The .44 magnum is good if you're accurate, since on Hardcore it has the potential to drop someone in one hit, even on a body shot. The G18 and M93R are pretty much for people who love to spray and pray, I wouldn't recommend them to any self-respecting BF3 player. The MP443 silenced is also most commonly used by recon players since it has a high capacity, low recoil, and low sound profile.

I can't really say which one of them is best, since it depends on your playstyle. I'd have to say it's between the G17c and MP412, especially for players who primarily play TDM on hardcore settings.

I actually tried the M1911 Tac and am pretty satisfied with it. I'm not the MOST accurate with it but not too bad in my opinion and it seems to work okay. I used to use the G17 when starting the game, but I think I might run with the M1911 Tac for a while.
