  • The Go Fuck Yourself Gaming Community

    Introduction

The Go Fuck Yourself Gaming Community or (GFY for short) was sort of fun little side-gig type team that was started back in January 2019 by a few members of the New Team of Weapons and Tactics [NTWT] (https://www.ntwt.us/) and Team Section 8 [Sc8] (http://en.sc8.ca/) members. As friends who each had their own teams but had similar visions, the purpose of this team was to attract those who thought alike -- eager to have fun and not get too caught up in the specific rules and policies that either of our teams had by themselves.

By February of 2019, we started our own Battlefield 3 server on the PC platform as we noticed that the platform lacked a population of servers set for the beloved hardcore mode that we all knew and loved best. We ended up getting our own domain (website) at www.gfygaming.com where we had some Battlefield wallpapers, sound effects, and other such things, however the site got lost a few years later when the domain expired while our domain administrator (from Team Section 8) was busy and sadly was snatched up by someone else. Although we all contributed to the funds of the server originally, we got increasingly busy over time with different job schedules, family ordeals, and other personal issues which caused us to get sidetracked.

As of mid-2020, the New Team of Weapons and Tactics has taken ownership of the server but maintains the rules and other server settings as they were. We are also in the process of creating pages for players to get some assistance with things like PunkBuster and a full page that actually writes out all the rules (such as no cheating, no racism, etc).

Please feel free to let us know if there are issues with the server 🙂

  • Server Rules

Our server rules are pretty much follow our usual mantra "don't be a dumbass", but for the sake of completeness and as a show for our professionalism, our rules are laid out below.

These rules apply to everyone and are equally important (not sorted by any sort of severity or level of significance). Violating any of these is considered a problem and anyone participating in violating any of our rules is subject to be removed from the server either temporarily or permanently, with or without any direct correlation to anyone's menstrual cycle or testosterone or estrogen levels.

    01 Be respectful

This is a place to for all to enjoy and have fun. If being an asshole is your idea of fun, that's fine too— just know that it has no place here and you may be removed from the server when others aren't interested in stroking your asshole. So please— be respectful to everyone, unless and until they begin to act like an asshole— in which case, feel free to unleash on them (but really, probably better for everyone to vote them out of the server with a kick vote or ban vote).

Tip: If you are drunk and have a habit of being an idiotic asshole of any kind when drunk, then you'd probably be best off shutting the fuck up when playing for your own safety. Everyone is expected to be respectful, regardless of your state of well-being. We do not offer exemptions for this rule so mind your drinking and your overall mood. You'll be warned once but continued disrespect will be subject to a temporary or permanent ban.

02 Do NOT make fun of players who are bad or have a play style you disagree with

To be brutally honest, this really ties in with rule #1 of be respectful but for the slow people in the back, we've been forced to explicitly address this.

03 No cheating, glitching, stat padding, etc

As with most servers, we run a ranked server for everyone to enjoy. Play honest and help keep the playing field level for everyone. Stat padding officially refers to essentially inflating one's individual score or statistics in a video game without productive contribution to gameplay. This typically involves not playing the game as intended and instead participating in activities that yield easy points to one's score. For example, repeatedly assisting an enemy player with killing a member of your team, followed by you reviving said teammate, only to allow the enemy to kill the player again— this is considered stat padding.

Ultimately, please remember that cheating isn't productive or fun for anyone. If you see someone cheating, please do everyone a favor and report them and if possible, initiate a ban vote to rid of them from the server until we can investigate the player and any potential reports.

04 No racism, sexism, political shit, etc

In some respects this also ties into our first rule— being respectful. We welcome players from all over the globe to play on our server, no matter what gender, shape, size, color, or otherwise. Let's focus on playing the game and having fun, and leave controversial topics out of the game chat. To be clear, we could care less about people having an intelligent and civil conversation about the government as long as it is not negatively affecting the gameplay, but making racist remarks or calling someone a communist for example will not be tolerated.

05 No baserape; those shooting out are fair game

Come on, people. It is bad enough when one team is completely pinned face-down ass-up squirming in their own excrement while the enemy forces each of their genitals down the throat of each poor sap. Their base should more-or-less be a safe location for them to be, as long as they are not engaging in combat. After all, there is a reason the area is off limits in-game as it is considered "out-of-bounds". Unless someone is shooting out from within, such as a sniper or some such, leave them alone.

06 Wait in line for vehicles

This also closely ties in with our first rule, but for the slow people in the back, we've yet again been forced to explicitly address this.

07 Move your FAT ass - do not obstruct or block your teammates in halls, doorways, etc.

Just like parking next to a fire-hydrant, blocking teammates is dumbass move, just like cock-blocking or vag-blocking. If you must step away from the computer, make sure you're not obstructing anything specific like a doorway or hallway— or prepare to be killed otherwise as needed.

    08 3rd floors are allowed

This rule refers to third-floor or similar areas in buildings that are not typically accessible via the traditional staircase and doorway on certain maps such as on Operation Metro or Seine Crossing.

09 English is the international standard and supreme universal language of the world, so please stick to it

To keep the chatter understandable by all, please stick to using English. If you don't speak English, chances are, you have a simple way of translating (such as by alt+tabbing and using a translator on your PC or by using your smart phone). If you don't have a smart phone and you can't be bothered to use a free translator on your PC, then fuck you.

10 Ping display required; hard limit is 300ms.

To keep the server enjoyable for everyone, all players must have their ping displayed. If you hide or otherwise manipulate your ping, that is considered nefarious and you may be removed from the server. While we welcome everyone to play on our server (and we even migrate our server accordingly regularly), we aim to keep it enjoyable for everyone, and that means getting rid of players who cause the server to eat its own shit with their high latency. In-game and throughout Battlelog, you can see your ping in various places represented in milliseconds (ms). The lower your the value the better.

As far as limits are concerned, each player's overall average should be ideally under 100ms. Those that are located more remote from our servers location or with slower networks may experience delays between 100-200ms or greater. All-in-all, we prefer your latency to be under 250ms on average, and we have a hard limit of 300ms. For example, if you're overall latency is around 150ms on average and it occasionally spikes to 250-300ms for a few seconds, you're fine; however if you latency is averaging 300ms or higher, you will be at risk to be removed from the server.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide much individual assistance with managing player latency values. If your ping is high, it could be due to a number of factors such as a poor internet connection speed, too many devices connected to your network, network congestion, issues with your router configuration, a poorly placed router, background processes using bandwidth on your device, or simply a large distance between you and our server. If it is due to there being a large distance between you and our server, you're in-luck as our server migrates to different locations regularly when not populated, so you can try checking back in a few days or in some cases, a few hours. If you're connecting from a shared network such as a college or university campus, there could be a lot of congestion due to the sheer number of students and devices sharing the network. If you're unable to diagnose these potential issues yourself, we recommend checking with your network administrator. This could be your Residential Network aka "ResNet" provider if you're located within a college or university campus housing network, internet service provider aka "ISP" if you're at home, or your IT department if you're at work. On that note, if you have an IT department at work that allows gaming, rock on!

For anyone who is legitimately having issues displaying their ping (but not with latency issues or intentionally hiding it), be sure your edge firewall or router allows PING/ICMP requests to pass-through. Most consumer devices are essentially an all-in-one router + firewall + switch + access point, so you will need to be the one that determines which device it is depending on your configuration. Lastly, not only must your external firewall allow these requests, but be sure that your Windows Firewall also allows them.

11 No Anonymous Connections (aka Proxies, VPNs, etc).

As a security measure, we do not allow connections from anonymous IP addresses. Although there are legitimate use cases for services that obfuscate IP addresses through high-traffic networks, we have seen such methods frequently misused by individuals seeking to circumvent bans, exploit compromised player accounts, flood our servers with harmful traffic, and engage in other malicious actions.

Your IP address is inherently public and vital for Internet connectivity—much like a street address is essential for mail delivery. Any online service needs this address to route data to and from your device. While many people assume a VPN provides complete anonymity, the reality is that VPN providers see and log your real IP address. Should law enforcement or other authorities decide to investigate illegal activity, they can typically obtain access to these records. Additionally, VPN services often require payment, which creates a transaction trail that can be tied back to you. Even if you are using a VPN for legitimate reasons, you may be inadvertently associated with illegal activities committed by others on the same service.

Safe browsing habits are ultimately the best way to protect your personal data when accessing the Internet or joining game servers. We strive to maintain a secure gaming environment and prohibit the sharing of personal information for malicious purposes. Although server administrators can see players’ IP addresses, they are not authorized to release that information. If your IP is inadvertently exposed by an external party, restarting your router or modem can often result in a new public IP address. However, this option may be unavailable if you connect through a static or shared address issued by a business, college, or government agency.
